Diana Shearwood is a photographer who lives in Montréal. Solo exhibitions of her work have been presented at The Darling Foundry (Quartier Éphémère), Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal, Galerie Éric Devlin, Stephen Bulger Gallery in Toronto, and in group shows as part of Le Printemps du Québec à Paris (Usine Éphémère), Québec à New York (The Kitchen), at Western Front in Vancouver and at Silver Eye Center for Photography in Pittsburgh.
Her previous photographic series on the built environment are found in public, corporate, and private collections including the Canada Council Art Bank (Ottawa), Fasken Martineau Art Bank (Barristers and Solicitors, Montréal), University of Texas School of Architecture (Austin, Texas) and Côte Saint-Luc Public Library, (Montréal).
Diana Shearwood has spent the last few years working on Behind the Mall, a documentary project which explores our food landscape. This series was recently exhibited in May 2007 at Articule in Montréal and will open on September 29, 2007 under the title What's for Dinner? at Silver Eye Center for Photography in Pittsburgh. The third solo show of Behind the Mall opens in Toronto on October 4th, 2007 at DeLeon White Gallery as part of the Alphabet City Food Festival 2007 together with the launch of the FOOD book co-published by Alphabet City, Toronto and MIT Press, Cambridge.
Images from Behind the Mall will also be on display at the Photographic Resource Center (PRC) in conjunction with a group show entitled Ad | Agency opening November 8th, 2007.
